Philosophy of Education

At Journey Christian Academy, we believe every student is uniquely created by God and possesses the potential for greatness. Our Christ-centered approach equips students for success, both now and for eternity.

  • Academic Excellence: We offer a challenging curriculum that prepares students for college, trade schools, or their chosen path.
  • Christ-Centered Learning: All subjects are explored through a biblical worldview, fostering knowledge and faith.
  • Individualized Support: We recognize your child’s unique strengths and weaknesses, providing support and nurturing potential.
  • Character Development: We go beyond academics, focusing on developing strong Christian character and a heart for service.
  • Strong Family Partnership: We believe parents are primary educators. We work collaboratively, fostering open communication and a shared commitment to your child’s success.

Educators

Barbara Ruff, JCA Lead Educator

With over three decades in education, Barbara’s journey has taken her from the classroom in Michigan to leadership roles that blend her deep faith into her work. Whether she’s guiding new teachers or leading chapel services, her passion for education and spiritual growth shines through.

Barbara’s not just about the books; she’s lived a life filled with learning, from earning degrees in education to acquiring a mix of interesting certificates. But at the end of the day, it’s her family and faith that keep her grounded — a loving husband, kids, and grandkids who inspire her every step of the way.

At Journey, Barbara’s mission is simple: create a place where kids can thrive academically and spiritually, all in a family-like atmosphere. She’s here to make sure every student feels part of something bigger, encouraging them to reach for the stars in both their personal and educational pursuits.
